The key feature of this design of Screw Grommet, also known as Captive Nuts or Lokut Nuts, is the robust receiving hole for the screw. This strength was developed to allow the use of a powered screwdriver when inserting a screw into the component, giving a much-reduced risk of stripping the cut thread in the plastic. Up to six screwing on and off operations are achievable without the loss of grip by this fixing.
Screw sizes are shown in the table in both imperial and metric (ST) form.
Typical applications include vehicle fascias and trims, electrical circuit boards and the panels of domestic appliances.
Type 1 - Open Type, allowing any length of screw to be used through the grommet.
Type 2 - Closed Type, sealing the screw thread.
