From Peak Practice to Junior Buyer

We are very pleased to welcome Owen Sant to the team as our new Junior Buyer. When he was younger, he appeared in several episodes of the medical soap opera Peak Practice. By younger, we mean he was a newborn baby, so he didn’t need to learn any lines. Rather than continue with a career in TV Owen followed his lifelong interest in finding out how things work.

Owen has combined his interest in engineering with roles in procurement, so he is well qualified to take up a buying role with us. He is pleased that the atmosphere at JET PRESS is so friendly and welcoming and he says he is keen to find where this role will take him.

Buying into the future

He is joining the busy Materials team in JET PRESS so there is plenty to learn and a lot of opportunities for development. Our buyers are responsible for ensuring we can supply exactly what our customers need.

This involves working with existing suppliers to make sure we have availability of stock items. If we don't stock an item that a customer needs we go back to our suppliers to source that item. If our existing network of suppliers doesn't have the required item we can often work with them to source a bespoke item. Or we can find alternative suppliers. We have plenty of experience in sourcing items from around the world.

There are times when the fastener or component a customer needs, simply does not exist. This is where our team of specialist engineers comes in. They can identify your requirements and design a solution. They can go on to create prototypes and test them. We have a manufacturing facility at JET PRESS Aylesbury and we work closely with a number of manufacturing partners so we can produce the item you need.

So Owen has plenty to look forward to as his career at JET PRESS progresses.

Dogs and horsepower

When he’s not at work, Owen likes to mess around with his car and travel around the UK with his partner and dogs. Though of course, for the moment at least, he is staying at home.
