For tactical applications in military, police and emergency services, clothing and accessories, Metal Side Release Buckles are extensively used.
Not only is a metal bodied side release buckle durable, and easily closed, it is secure against accidental release as both side buttons need to be depressed at the same time to allow it to open. Popular brands, often originating from climbing, are highly durable and secure but are also very heavy, in applications where multiple buckles need to be used the weight can be a significant obstacle to their use.
For the military in particular, weight is a big issue. Soldiers in the field can be carrying up to 40kg in body armour and high tech kit before they pick up their pack. By specifying Metal Side Release Buckles that are not over engineered for the specific application you can reduce weight and save money.
These Metal Side Release Buckles are usually used in conjunction with webbing and hooks to create clothing and harnesses.
Tested to be tough enough
The new side release buckles available from JET PRESS are manufactured from aluminium rather than steel, whilst they are able to provide high weight capacity load ratings, they are considerably lighter than their steel counterparts, and have the added advantage of being more resistant to corrosion in hostile environments than steel plated buckles.
These buckles have been subjected to corrosion resistance testing and are highly durable in hostile environments. They have also been tested for tensile strength, and are rated to a dynamic 250Kg load. Currently available in 25mm (38g) and 38mm (48g) black or silver finishes, with other sizes and colour options already in development.
