The tool holder is fixed to the bench and then the bottom tool (for button or eyelet) is placed in the holder. The parts are then assembled by hand and the stem of the button or eyelet is rolled over by the punch and a hammer to secure the parts together. The workpiece or fabric has to be pre-punched.
