HR Star Joins the Team

Jen Bort has recently joined the JET PRESS team as our first dedicated Human Resources Business Partner. She is very clear that her role will not just be about policies and procedures. “It’s like a family here” says Jen. “I’m building on a very strong base of loyalty to the company. But I want to make sure that, as far as possible, people here feel happy and motivated. As a team we need to define the essence of what it means to be a JET PRESS team member and make JET PRESS an employer of choice.”
Jen has plenty of other exciting projects on the horizon. “Another important challenge is to cross fertilise the knowledge and experience we already have within JET PRESS. That will make our expertise more available to our customers.”
Experience in Engineering and Beyond
Vickers Defence Systems provided a sandwich year placement for Jen and set her on a life-long path in HR. She has gone on to work for other engineering companies including Alstom, Morgan Tucker and MIDFIX. She has also worked in HR roles for a law firm, an IT company and Center Parcs.
Practicality and Creativity outside work
When Jen was young her parents bought an old hotel on the south coast and restored it with the help of all the family. So, by the time she was 12 years old, she was an accomplished tiler, carpet fitter, painter and decorator. These skills came in handy when she decided to build a summerhouse in the garden for her husband, two children and dog.
Her current creative outlet is ceramics. Jen attends a weekly throwing workshop and is developing her skills at the wheel. She has even considered building a kiln in her garden to fire her pots. Jen has a flair for creative writing and has written several scripts for her village pantomime as well as making props and playing several parts.
And what about that picture? Well, Jen is a bit of a closet Star Wars fan. So, she couldn’t resist getting a picture with Bobba Fett the Mandalorian Bounty Hunter when the opportunity arose.
